Ingvar Fredricson on his new foundation and book releases

"The Professor Ingvar Fredricson Foundation" - this is the name of the newly formed foundation which will work to preserve and promote horse knowledge. With it, and with a newly released memoir from Fredricson himself, a distinct focus is now being placed on collecting, preserving and disseminating knowledge about horses.

A new foundation has been formed to convey knowledge about horses and it is named after a pioneer in Swedish horse knowledge: Ingvar Fredricson.

With the foundation, they want to collect and preserve learnings, insights and experiences in all things horse. At the same time, they also want to motivate younger riders to find the curiosity and ingenuity that drove Ingvar Fredricson to the discoveries he made.
– I think it is absolutely fantastic that there has been a foundation in my name. I think it comes at the right moment, says Fredricson and continues: because we have thousands of young riders who want to make a career, but that requires you to understand horses and know the art of riding.

The foundation's main purpose is thus to convey knowledge about the horse in an easy-to-understand and popular science way.

Initiative for a foundation
Founder Kajsa von Geijer has gotten to know Ingvar Fredricson through joint horse ownership with Peder Fredricson. After taking part in his lessons and knowledge about horses, she believes that these are invaluable insights that must not be lost.
– The research, innovation and vision that Ingvar contributed to horse husbandry and sustainability for the horse must not be lost. That's why we started talking about setting up this foundation.

The foundation includes the sons Jens and Peder Fredricson, who are also keen to both protect the knowledge their father possesses and to expand it with their own and others' experiences. Actually placing importance on lessons and on the interest in horses itself is something they appreciated during their own upbringing.
– A big reason that we are going now at this age, Peder and I, is probably because at all dinners and breakfasts, the first question was always "how are the horses?". Which has made you see your riding as something important, says Jens Fredricson.

Peder Fredricson chimes in:
– I also think it is a huge advantage to be able to share this kind of knowledge early on.

The foundation's board is completed with Jana Wannius and Annikka Berridge.

A way to preserve knowledge: Ingvar Fredricson releases his memoirs

In connection with the formation of the foundation, two books are also being released with Fredricson's name on the author line. One is the previously published "Flyinge: Hippology from the Middle Ages to the Present" and the other a new edition with his own memoirs called "Hippologist by birth and untamed habit".
